Translated from the French of Father Celestin Cloquet, Honorary Canon, Apostolic Missionary and Late Vicar-General, by a Sister of Mercy. It was published in the United States by Benziger Brothers in 1887. It has the Imprimatur of Archbishop Michael Augustine Corrigan, Archdiocese of New York, 18 October 1886.

It was dedicated to "Our Lady of Sorrows as a Testimony of Filial Love and Grateful Remembrance".
