Many of these chapters have appeared month by month in the Stella Maris Magazine. It seems difficult to write one's thoughts in any other way than from time to time, at long intervals, when the idea has grown to maturity. Even then it may escape notice because of its simplicity; but at least it contains the best that the writer had to say at the moment.
